正面玄関は城主や役人など位の高い人々が使用する出入り口です。正面玄関を通って家の中に入ると仏間、客室(でい、おくのでい)に上がります。
正面玄関には式台が備えられており、格式の高い家柄であったことが想像できます。
普段使用する玄関(どうじ)に比べて間口も広くとってあり、来客に対するおもてなしの心遣いが想像できます。
The main entrance is the entry for Buddhist monks, the lords of the village, special guests and the head of the family. The main entrance has a raised wooden floor inside the front door. This type of architecture was used regularly for a house belonging to a high-ranking personage. When you enter the house through the main entrance, you go up to the Butsuma and Guest rooms called Dei and Okunodei.
