Various kinds of citrus are grown on islands in the south of the prefecture. Hiroshima Prefecture is a big producer of lemons (1st), navel oranges (1st), hassaku oranges (2nd), and oranges (8th) in Japan. Peaches, pears, and grapes are grown in the plateaus in the center of Hiroshima Prefecture. Apples are grown in the north of the prefecture.

Livestock farming
Beef cattle farming flourishes in the north of Hiroshima Prefecture. The beef is popular as Hiroshimagyu. Dairy cattle are also raised there.
 Hiroshima Prefecture is the 4th biggest producer of eggs in Japan, and raising egg laying hens is a flourishing industry.

Fisheries
A variety of fish are caught in the Seto Island Sea, including small fish such as sardines and Japanese rockfish. There are especially a lot of black sea bream, silver sea bream, and largehead hairtail caught in Japan. Oyster farming also flourishes here. Hiroshima Prefecture is the biggest producer of oysters in Japan.

Manufacturing
The manufacturing industry flourishes in coastal areas along the Seto Inland Sea. It mainly consists of automobile, shipbuilding, ship repair, printing machine, and clothing factories. Manufacturing of needles, sandpaper, grindstones and balls are also flourishing industries.
 Recently, the production of semiconductors used in computers has flourished.
 Manufacturing of traditional brushes, Japanese harps, sandals, and tatami facing are also flourishing industries.

Many Japanese and foreign tourists visit Hiroshima Prefecture for tourist spots such as Miyajima (one of the three most scenic spots of Japan and a World Heritage site), Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, Kure, Onomichi and Tomonoura, ski resorts, and professional baseball and football teams.
