Higashihiroshima City is connected to many countries and regions in Japan. Where is it connected to and how?
Do you know that child ambassadors from Kitahiroshima City in Hokkaido visit your school for exchange during the summer holiday every other year? Child ambassadors from Higashihiroshima City also visit Kitahiroshima City every other year. Higashihiroshima City and Kitahiroshima City are sister cities and promote educational, industrial and cultural exchanges.
Higashihiroshima City also has friendship agreements with foreign cities. It has a good will city agreement with Marilia City, a friendship city agreement with Tokuyo City (China), and a friendship exchange agreement with Virginia Beach City.
Based on these agreements, people in each city visit and communicate with each other.

| I am from Fujian, China. Fujian is known for its oolong tea. It is located in southern China, and the winter is much warmer than in Higashihiroshima. I study at Hiroshima University for three reasons. First, I want to become friends with Japanese people and people from other countries.Second, I want to learn the history of East Asia. And finally, I want to learn Japanese. Japanese dramas and cartoons are very popular in China.Many people watch cartoons like Doraemon, One Piece, and Detective Conan. So, many Chinese people come to Japan to study Japanese. I want to become a Japanese teacher too. People I’ve met in Higashihiroshima are kind, and I enjoy living here. Japan and China have strong ties. I hope people in Japan, China, and all over the world can live in peace. |
