“The Year that Sees the Birth of Japanese Rugby”
In the autumn of this year, E. B. Clarke taught Keio University students rugby with his ally from Cambridge, Ginnosuke Tanaka. This started the origin of Japanese rugby. “The 60-Year History of Keio University” introduces part of the book authored by the Keio University Rugby Football Club, entitled “Rugby Football”, which was published by Hakubunkan on 11 November 1909. It describes how Clarke and Tanaka introduced rugby to Keio University, and the first practice field for Keio University was located in Sendaigahara.
