“Japan's First Junior High School Rugby Club in Ota, Gunma”
During the summer vacation in 1907, Keiji Takeno and Sohei Fukushima from Keio visited Ota Junior High School. Their visit served as a trigger for other Keio players to come to this junior high school for coaching which resulted in producing a new rugby team. Ota Junior High School was invited to a Keio match to take on the Keio's regular team. With high expectations as the first rugby team other than Keio, unfortunately the Ota Junior High School Rugby Club eventually disintegrated after a few years.
