[JRFU] In May, the Taiwan Rugby Football Union was established as a branch of the Seibu Rugby Football Union. In August, the Referee Society of the Japan East Rugby Football Union was established.
The “JRFU Journal” was published. Sadly, however, the Vol. 27 brought an end to the publication of this journal, mainly because of the failure to make this journal publication profitable.
[Japan National Team] Japan National Team Tours Canada
The Japan National Rugby Union Team led by Ban Kayama Head Coach toured internationally to Canada from August 17 through October 15. This year made an outstanding start for Japanese rugby by beginning global rugby exchanges. The Japan national team successfully ended this tour with great performance by winning six games and losing one through all seven games.
[University] Keio's First National Championship: Keio, which had been dominant and invincible for the Meiji and Taisho eras, had a hard time with other universities that followed after Keio. Within a new schedule format in the Showa era, in this year, Keio was finally able to conquer the Kanto region. Keio claimed the nationwide title for the first time at the 4th East-West University Championship by defeating the Kansai champion, Doshisha, 17-0.
[Rugby Sevens] 1st Seven-a-Side Rugby Tournament Sponsored by the Japan East Rugby Football Union: On April 3, the 2nd Rugby Sevens Tournament was held at the Jingu Stadium supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture. On April 28, 1st Rugby Sevens Tournament was held at the Komaba Field of the University of Tokyo sponsored by the Japan East Rugby Football Union.
[International] Tokyo Higher Normal School (the present University of Tsukuba) toured Manchuria (two wins and one loss) in March and April, Rikkyo toured Korea (two wins) in April, and Kansai toured Taiwan (three wins) in January. In January, South Manchurian Medical College came to Japan with one win and two losses.
