[Rules] The rules were revised to say that players other than those in the scrum have to position themselves to the rear of the scrum firmly on both feet (previously on the either of foot).
[Japan] Two Test Matches with Canada National Team: The Japan national team played against the Canada national team in two test matches, and won both matches, 9-8 and 38-5. Ban Kayama was the head coach, while Takeo Baba and Takuo Adachi were the captains.
[University] With the momentum gained by taking the first tournament title in Kanto, Meiji defeated the Kansai champion, Kyoto, at the 5th East-West University Championship by a large margin of 54-11. With this victory, Meiji became the national university champion for the first time. The 1st Kanto Big 5 University OB League Games began. The beginning of the OB league games boosted the popularity of rugby. In these games, five teams from Keio, Waseda, Meiji, Rikkyo, and Bachelor Old Boys appeared, and the Keio Old Boys team claimed the league title by winning all four games.
[International] The Canada National Rugby Football Union Team came to Japan for the first time, playing seven games in Tokyo and Osaka. Their results were five wins and two losses at the test matches against Japan. In April, Kyoto toured Korea, ending with two wins and one loss. The French Navy's cruiser Waldeck-Rousseau came to Japan in May. This cruiser's team had a game with the All Mitsubishi team (Nagasaki), ending in a defeat 18-4. Meiji toured Korea, achieving three wins.
