[JRFU] Ginnosuke Tanaka (Chairperson Emeritus of the JRFU), the founder of Japanese rugby, passed away on 27 August 1943 at the age of 71.
* Due to the student mobilization order issued on September 22, all rugby games were canceled.
The JRFU renamed itself as the Dainippon Taiikukai Tokyukai (Ball Battle Section of the Japan Athletic Association), while notifying each school of a farewell match at the Meiji Jingu Stadium on October 14. About 100 ruggers came to the stadium at 1 PM. The Waseda-Keio Rivalry (students and Old Boys) ended in the victory for Waseda 25-20.
