[JRFU] Tsunazo Nishino Assumes the Post of Executive Director: The Executive Director was switched from Naohiko Kawazu to Tsunazo Nishino. On September 24, the JRFU celebrated its 35th anniversary at the Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Stadium, holding various events including a ceremony and a memorial service while awards were presented to persons of merit. The JRFU determined to compile a book entitled “The History of Japanese Rugby” (authored by Shinjiro Honryo) for their 35th anniversary, which was later published on 20 November 1964.

This time, the national team was composed of the tour director, Yasujiro Kasai, the deputy director, Shigeru Konno, the captain, Tatsuya Aoi, and 24 players. They ended their tour achieving four wins with one loss by winning the fourth test match 33-6.

[University] Hosei claimed their second championship title with seven wins and one draw at the 34th Kanto Inter-University Championship for the first time in four years. Fukuoka became the Kyushu champion.

[International] Nippon Sports Science University toured South Korea in May and returned home with four wins.
