[Japan] Inviting a strong Australian club, the Eastern Suburbs, the Japan national team tried to counter them with Toichiro Kawagoe as the head coach, Hitoshi Oka as the coach, and Captain Katakura. The Japan national team met and beat the Eastern Suburbs at the second match 16-3; however, this match was not approved as a test match.
[Japan Rugby Championship] Kintetsu defeated Hosei 27-14 at the 5th Japan Rugby Championship, wearing the championship crown for two consecutive years.
[University] Hosei defeated Waseda 11-8 at the 4th All-Japan University Rugby Championship, and became the national university champion. Waseda claimed their 13th tournament title for the first time in two years by sweeping all their seven games in the 38th Kanto Inter-University Rugby Tournament. As for the league games that were newly established, Hosei claimed their first league title by winning all their seven games. Doshisha became the Kansai champion, and Fukuoka Institute of Technology became the Kyushu champion for the third consecutive year.
[Company Rugby] At the 20th Japan Company Rugby Football Championship, Kintetsu turned the game around with a wonderful run made by HO Nakayama, successfully defeating TOYOTA 6-5. Kintetsu claimed the championship title.
[International] The Eastern Suburbs came to Japan from Australia, achieving three wins and two losses. Ponsonby Rugby Club came to Japan from New Zealand, with the result of three wins and two losses. The results: All-Japan Student Representative team 30-17 Ponsonby, Ponsonby 29-14 All-Kanto, Ponsonby 32-3 All-Japan Company team, and Ponsonby 19-10 All-Kyushu. In January, Mitsui (based in Osaka) toured Taiwan and suffered two losses, Osaka University of Economics toured Taiwan in March having three wins, one draw, and one loss, and Tenri University toured South Korea in March with one win, one draw, and three losses.
