[JRFU] The RFU held the Centennial England Rugby Conference at Twickenham beginning September 23 as the commemorative event for its 100th anniversary in order to disseminate and develop rugby in the world. Shigeru Konno, the head director, and Tetsunosuke Onishi, a board member, attended this conference from Japan. The representatives from the rugby union of each nation actively discussed how to disseminate and develop rugby according to each department. This conference was the first global meeting related to rugby.

[University] Waseda avenged their previous loss by defeating Nippon Sports and Science University 14-9 at the 7th All-Japan University Rugby Championship, claiming their fourth championship title for the first time in two years. Waseda claimed the title for the Kanto Inter-University Rugby Tournament, Hosei became the champion of the league games, and Tenri became the Kansai champion. Fukuoka Institute of Technology claimed their sixth consecutive Kyushu tournament title.
[Company Rugby] Nippon Steel Kamaishi Works tied and shared the title with Ricoh at the 23rd Japan Company Rugby Football Championship. By lottery, Kamaishi advanced to the Japan Rugby Championship.
[International] The Japan U19 national team toured Canada for the first time with three wins and two losses. This team, which was the first U19 national team formed in Japan, took their first international tour from March 20 to April 8. This tour was followed by continuous overseas tours after 1975, producing a lot of players who played on the Japan national team.
In June, Waseda toured South Korea with two wins and two losses, Nihon Pharmaceutical University toured Taiwan in December with four wins, National Taiwan Normal University came to Japan in February with four losses, and Acorn Club toured Hong Kong in the same month with two wins and one loss.
