In February, the Canterbury University team from New Zealand came to Japan with seven wins. In February, All-Waseda toured Ireland with two wins and three losses. In March, All-Meiji toured New Zealand with one win and six losses. In July, the Japan U18 national team toured abroad for the 12th time to New Zealand with three wins and three losses. In December, the NSW high school selection team came to Japan and won all their six matches including the one against the Japan U18 national team. In March 1987, the New Zealand U18 national team came to Japan with five wins.
