Full-Scale Activities for 2019 Start by Releasing the Schedule to Determine the RWC 2019 Host Cities
* The RWC 2019 in Japan was just five years away, and Akira Shimazu assumed the post as the Secretary General of the RWC 2029 Organising Committee.
* The Webb Ellis Cup, awarded as the RWC trophy, was sent on a 15-nation promotional tour around the globe, coming to Japan on May 22.
* The schedule was set to determine host cities for the RWC 2019 by March 2015.
* Hidemoto Oyama received the Distinguished Service Award (for disseminating mouth guards as a member of the medical committee), and Hiroyoshi Sakata won a special award (for being inducted into the International Hall of Fame).

* The International Rugby Board (IRB), which is the international organising body for global rugby, changed the name of Rugby World.

* May 3-17 - Asia Five-Nation Tournament 2014: Japan claimed the tournament title by sweeping all four games. Results: Japan 99-10 Philippines, Japan 132-10 Sri Lanka, Japan 62-5 South Korea, and Japan 49-8 Hong Kong.
* June 7-14 - IRB Pacific Nations Cup 2014: Japan won two games and claimed the cup title. Results: Japan 34-25 Canada, and Japan 37-29 USA
* May 30 - Lipovitan D Challenge Cup 2014: Japan 33-14 Samoa

The Japan national team won 10 test matches consecutively, and as a result, Japan was finally ranked 10th in the IRB world rankings for the first time in Japan's history.
* November 1-23 - 1st Match of Lipovitan D Challenge Cup 2014: Meeting the Maori All Blacks, Japan was completely defeated 61-21, and suffered a loss again in the 2nd match by a narrow margin of 20-18. In the following Lipovitan D Tour 2014 held on November 15-23, in the 1st match, Japan gained victory over Romania 18-13, but suffered a loss to Georgia in the 2nd match, 35-24.

Yamaha's First-Ever Title: Yamaha Jubilo met Suntory Sungoliath in the final of the 52nd Japan Rugby Championship. Yamaha defeated Suntory 15-3, claiming their first-ever championship title.

Panasonic Achieves Consecutive Titles on Their Own: Kobe Steel, Panasonic, Toshiba, and Yamaha advanced to the semi-finals. Panasonic advanced to the final with a strong performance and held off Yamaha 30-12, claiming their consecutive title. Berrick Barnes (Panasonic) was selected as the MVP for two consecutive years, while Rakuhei Yamashita (Kobe Steel) was named the Rookie of the Year. Berrick Barnes won four awards, by being selected as one of the best 15 and wining the best goal scorer and the best kicker.

Teikyo's 6th Consecutive Title: In the final of the All-Japan University Rugby Championship, Teikyo overwhelmed Tsukuba, 50-7, with their powerful and flexible offence. Teikyo claimed their sixth consecutive championship title. Teikyo won the Kanto Inter-University Rugby Tournament, while Waseda placed second. Ryutsu Keizai won the Kanto University Rugby League and Tokai placed second. In Kansai, Kwansei Gakuin became the champion sweeping all games and for the first time in five years. Fukuoka Institute of Technology became the Kyushu champion. Meijo University, which appeared in the 65th Regional Inter-University Rugby Tournament for the first time in six years, claimed their tournament title by defeating Tokyo Gakugei University 21-12.

In the National Athletic Festival, Saga Prefecture won the adult class, and Osaka Prefecture won the juvenile class. In the 22nd All-Japan Club Rugby Football Championship, Kanagawa Tamariva Club defeated the Hokkaido Barbarians 14-10, claiming their ninth championship title. In March 2015, Tokai University Gyosei High School claimed their second tournament title in the 16th National High School Invitational Rugby Tournament.
