"Sunwolves" - The Japan Team to Participate in Super Rugby
* On July 15, the JRFU assembled the related parties from the RWC 2019 host cities to hold a kick-off meeting.
* In October, the JRFU decided the dates of the RWC 2019 in Japan, from 20 September to 2 November 2019.
* The Japan team that participates in Super Rugby was named the “Sunwolves”, which was placed in the 1st conference of the South Africa group.
* Koji Tokumasu, the special-appointment executive board member, was selected as the chairperson of the ARFU.

RWC 2015 in England: Japan's Victory over South Africa Shocks the World Despite Failing to Reach Top 8
* April 18-May 23 - ARFU Rugby Championship 2015: Japan swept all four games.
Results: 1st match: Japan 56-30 South Korea; 2nd match: Japan 41-0 Hong Kong; 3rd match: Japan 66-10 South Korea; and 4th match: Japan 3-0 Hong Kong.
* June 18-August 3 - IRB Pacific Nations Cup 2015 2015: Japan finished with one win and three losses. Results: Japan 20-6 Canada, USA 23-18 Japan, Fiji 27-22 Japan, and Tonga 31-20 Japan (in the consolation final).
* September-October - RWC 2015: The Japan national team achieved three wins and one loss, with the results of the 1st match, Japan 34-32 South Africa, the 2nd match, Scotland 45-10 Japan, the 3rd match, Japan 26-5 Samoa, and the 4th match, Japan 28-18 USA. However, Japan failed to advance to the final tournament.

Panasonic Wild Knights Becomes the Champion: Panasonic defeated Teikyo University 49-15, claiming their fifth tournament title for the first time in two years. With much pride of having achieved seven consecutive All-Japan University Rugby Championship titles, Teikyo scored two tries.

Panasonic Wild Knights' 5th Title: Panasonic defeated the Toshiba Brave Lupus by a narrow margin, 27-26, claiming their fifth league title for the first time in two years. Shota Horie (Panasonic) was selected as the MVP, Naohiro Kotaki was named the Rookie of the Year, Ayumu Goromaru obtained three awards, the best 15, the best goal scorer, and the special award.

In the 52nd All-Japan University Rugby Championship, Teikyo defeated Tokai 27-17, achieving their seventh consecutive championship title. Teikyo won the Kanto Inter-University Rugby Tournament, while Tokai became the champion of the Kanto University Rugby League. In Kansai, Doshisha defeated Tenri, claiming their 42nd title for the first time in eight years. Fukuoka Institute of Technology became the Kyushu champion. Aichi Institute of Technology became the champion of the 66th Regional Inter-University Rugby Tournament by defeating Kagoshima University 45-21, for the first time in five years.

In the 23rd All-Japan Club Rugby Football Championship, Kanagawa Tamariva Club claimed their 10th championship title for two consecutive years. In the 17th National High School Invitational Rugby Tournament held from 30 March to 7 April 2016, Higashi Fukuoka High School claimed their fifth tournament title for the first time in two years.
