Canada National Rugby Union Team visited Japan, played seven matches including two test matches, and departed for home with five wins against two losses.
Japan performed solidly against Canada to win two matches. The first match held at Hanazono Rugby Stadium on an unseasonably warm day attracted and engaged 15,000 fans. A newspaper reported the match with the headline “players tossed into the air by frenzied spectators”, indicating how heated the game was.
On 31 January, Japan fought a good game against Canada at Hanazono. Canada was closing the game 8-6, but Kitano managed a dramatic try with only five minutes on the clock to pull off a 9-8 victory.
