Having gained confidence from the games against Canada, Japan invited the next team: the all-Australian student team. This demonstrates the attitude of the Japanese rugby community, seeking to challenge the world it is yet to see. In those days when information was virtually non-existent, it was only natural that people were interested in knowing how strong the Australian student team was.
In the 6th minute of the first half, Nogami gained possession from the scrum awarded to Japan, passed the ball to Ka, Tsujita, then to Toba who scored a try in the left corner, and the try was converted. In the 7th minute of the second half, Kasahara successfully kicked a penalty. In the 19th minute, Australia's attack from the scrum led them to a successful try and goal. In the 30th minute, Japan missed a pass and allowed Australia to score a try and a goal. Japan lost by a score of 8-18.
