The BC state team has played seven matches so far, lost to Kintetsu 9-16, and ended in a 3-3 draw with Yahata Steel Works. The one-armed flanker Denis Bache was in this final match. His performance impressed many rugby fans and became a popular topic for them. He would be the first and last man with one arm lost from the shoulder to play in a test match. Japan led the game in the first half, but lost the lead and allowed the opponent to come from behind in the second half. However, Japan did not give in and they were determined to keep attacking to the end. The forwards especially added fierceness in their push. Japan scored a try from a scrum with the final whistle only moments away. Japan XV's morale was high and their spirits were concentrated here. It was too bad that the missed goals resulted in a loss once again. It was partly because of nervousness but the main reason was the unstable performance.
