The two tries Cambridge scored in the first half both resulted from mistakes in Japan's defence. In the 16th minute, Cambridge's centre forcibly cut in from the scrum in the middle of the ground, took advantage of Japan's tackling mistake, and the team scored a try. The second try was awarded in the 35th minute when Cambridge won in a scrum in front of the goal though Japan was to throw the ball in, and its stand-off attacked the side.
In the second half, Cambridge went in to win. They took safety measures such as using kicks a lot and always playing in the opponent's territory. It worked just as they planned and they scored three penalties. They had a comfortable margin of victory (9-28) by the 33rd minute. Japan launched a counterattack from there. The backs hit hard, the forwards supported them well and consecutively took possession of the ball. In the 35th minute, Japan passed the ball to the left from the lineout, Toshima dodged a tackle and scored a try between left and centre. In the 38th minute, they won in several rucks in a row, passed the ball well, and Toshima, who was unmarked, scored a try. This was a good attack and it pleased fans, but at the same time, I must say that the counterattack was launched too late as usual.
