Japan's national team came to a wretched result: They lost to the all-Ireland student team, which had lost to the all-Wasaeda University team. The Irish students, having an advantage in height, kept the ball in lineouts, and stand-off's short-punting made the forwards proceed their way. Most of all, both the forwards and the backs were quick in the initial charge and did not fail to step forward and tackle. So they had almost nothing to worry about when they were in front of the goal. Whenever our national squad loses, I feel that they were overcome by the opponent's power and speed, but in this match, I think that they were overcome by coach Meetze. Japan lost to his intentional playing style: throwing the ball in from lineouts, involving the defenders of Japan in mauls, and having stand-off Bell watch constantly for an opportunity for his signature drop goal.
