In the second game of this visit by the U.S., Japan's U23 won 16-0. So the national team should have won this game at any rate. Japan was leading by two points (15-13) when America's desperate counterattack finally broke the robust defence shield of Japan in the 36th minute of the second half. They deployed themselves against a maul formed near the centre. Fullback joined the line and vertically burst through the Japanese defence. The centre in support shook off the Japanese players chasing him, and scored a try to the middle of the goal. Screams and moans of disappointment echoed in the stands. The States scored another try against disheartened Japan in the end of the second half. The whistle went at 15-25.
