Although the try differential in game 2 was only one, Japan was defeated conceding twice as many points as they scored. It is a very disappointing loss because they were playing neck and neck with the opponent.
Japan scored three tries: (1) The forwards launched a brilliant vertical attack from a drop-out, and lock Hayashi scored a try in the 34th minute of the first half. (2) A quick attack from a penalty kick at 22-metre in their own territory deployed to the backs; wing Yoshida went close to the goal and passed the ball to Matsuo, then to flanker Kajihara to score a try in the 18th minute of the second half. Japan kept the ball for 80 metres to score this amazing try. (3) Yoshida scored a try in the 37th minute. The offensive plays were as they planned. Although the opponent took advantage of our little mistakes and scored four tries, to our disappointment, a score differential of 16 is within reach. Japan even got the upper hand in many aspects including the scrum. We only have to clarify where to modify our technique, and keep challenging. We should never give up.
