Japan invited Tonga, also qualified for the third World Cup, to play test matches for tune-up. Tonga, which already had a 9-13 lead in the first half, took control of the game in the second half, scored five tries and smashed Japan. Japan played passively both in offence and defence, possibly because they were too relieved to have qualified, or they aimed to win from a solid start. Tonga, on the other hand, played powerfully and freely, and overwhelmed Japan. Japan tends to play loose when they need to get to the next level. When can Japan break this bad habit? The world is full of tough opponents which Japan may not be able to beat even if they try their hardest.
