England got on their mettle after their difficult first test match and proved themselves as the country where rugby originated. I once wrote that the maximum number of tries that Japan can concede if they put up a good fight was five. However, they fell into their usual pattern in this match, and conceded nine tries and 55 points. The cause of this was that they cannot improve their ball possession due to a lack of ability in maintaining the ball and the repetition of mistakes. In order perform well in the World Cup, it is essential to make conscious and thorough efforts to reduce the number of mistakes and to keep possession of the ball as long as possible. Centre Namba and the replaced fullback Takashi Yoshida scored a try each in the 24th minute of the first half and 43rd minute of the second respectively. However, they should reflect on the fact that they missed many opportunities due to easy mistakes, before evaluating the tries.
