The already exhausted Japan XV had to face an even harder schedule. An ‘equal condition' is emphasised in the world of rugby. That is why they do not complain whether it is raining or it is scorching hot. I feel sorry when forcing the players into a game where there is NOT an equal condition. In order to enhance Japan's international influence, the primary task for Japan is to reinforce the team. While the United States had six days' rest after the previous match, Japan had only three. Japanese forwards which, on average, are shorter by 6cm, and lighter by 11kg. They gave the U.S. the upper hand in the scrum, and Ito's side attack lost its sharpness. Japan still had a chance of winning. In the 18th minute of the second half, Parker persistently went for the ball the opponent got from a ruck and stole it. He quickly passed the ball to Kiso, then to Sonoda, and Ohata scored a try to the right corner. They successfully added a conversion and cut the opponent's lead to just one point for the second time today. However, the final 20 minutes is what really counts. Japan's inflated expectations went flat in no time.
