Fiji wanted to take revenge and launched a fierce attack, but Japan defended hard and won 21-19. The first half, 17 min: Tonga scored a try. 21 min: Japan scored a penalty. 22 min: Japan scored a try. 33 min: Japan scored a try after Fiji made a mistake, 15-7. The second half, 5 min: Tonga scored a try to narrow the gap, 15-14. 22 min & 36 min: Japan scored penalties and extended the lead, 21-14. 38 min: Tonga counterattacked against a high punt from Japan, and scored a try. They were only 2 points behind, but missed a conversion. Japan's lock Ono came on to the ground as a replacement in the 22nd minute of the second half. He played well around the ball when needed, and contributed to the win.
