The Lipovitan D Challenge Cup was the final preparation in Japan before the World Cup. Japan won easily with a score of 30-8 to show their improvement in “Discipline and breakdowns which were the reflection points from the Pacific Nations Cup.” (captain and flanker Michael Leitch). Head coach Jones emphasized that in addition to the game situation in which Japan scored 3 tries and conceded only one try to Uruguay, the support of cheers by fans in Fukuoka led Japan to win for the first time in five matches.
“This is the last match we will have in Japan. We look forward to showing evolving Japan in front of our fans to create a new kind of history in the Rugby World Cup. We hope to play rugby that will move the ball quickly.” (head coach Jones)
