Kenjiro Shiota - The First Japanese Player who Scored a Try

In October 1931, the official RFU journal carried a valuable article written by Dr. Clarke, entitled: “Random Note for Rugger-men.”
“This player (indicating Kenjiro Shiota) somehow got the ball and ran full speed toward the opponent team's goal posts. He ran quite fast, swiftly overtaking surrounding players one by one swiftly, then only the full-back remained between him and the goal line. Since he had never scored a try before, he kept on running staking his life on scoring the goal.
The full-back gradually came closer to him. While worrying about how to prevent getting tackled, he came face to face with the full-back. In this make-or-break moment, he suddenly yelled at the full-back: “SOKO DOKE! BAKAMONO!”, which means, “Get out of my way, you stupid rugger!”
Shioda's unpredicted rush forward with such a great momentum caught this foreign full-back rugger off guard that he was left speechless, giving a way for Shinoda to score a try. It may sound unbelievable, but people can do extraordinary things when highly excited.”
