In January 1928, the Wales regiment team based in Shanghai came to Japan, defeating Waseda, Keio, and Meiji, along with a joint team with YC&AC and KR&AC, drawing with the Kanto representative team. This Wales regiment team returned to Shanghai with a 4-1 record. This was followed by the visits of the French garrison team based in Tianjin in February 1929, the Canada National Rugby Union Team in January 1932, and the all-Australian student team in January 1934.
From Japan, Kyoto toured Korea in April 1931, Meiji toured Korea in March 1932, Waseda toured Shanghai in January 1933, and Doshisha toured Korea in April. These activities show how international exchanges became quite active.
The tour of the Canada National Rugby Union Team in 1932 and the visiting of the all-Australian student team in 1934 particularly made significant contributions to rapidly increasing Japanese rugby skills and its booming popularity. Deep exchanges with Australia, promoted by Waseda's Australian tour in 1927 and another exchange with Canada opened by the Japan National Rugby Union Team, served as a guide for Japan to the world. Such exchanges with these nations that have developed over 80 years still remain in progress, and demonstrate that those seeds planted by the early forerunners have grown to a big tree.
