Japan National Rugby Union Team Toured Canada for the First Time after the War

When the Japan National Rugby Union Team toured Canada in 1963, they performed well with a good result of 4-1. This tour was their second tour in Canada, but for the first time in 33 years since the last tour with World War II during these years. Taijiro Kasai (a board member of the JRFU and the head director of the Kyushu Rugby Football Union) led this team as the tour director, with Shigeru Konno as the deputy director and Tatsuya Aoi as the captain (head coach and a Keio graduate, from Yokogawa Electric Corporation). Under their direction, 24 players participated.
Their tour to Canada activated international exchanges with the first tour to New Zealand in 1968, the visit of the England National Rugby Union Team to Japan, and the starting of the Asia Rugby Championship (ARC).
