Climbed to the top of the hill and had a much beautiful view of the valley. In Evening went with the young Mr. and Mrs. McNair to a Methodist Church on the hill. A Mr. L. Haas, a Sunday school missionary spoke. He is a man who came over to this country about twenty years ［ago］. He is perhaps a typical Sunday school “talker,” not to my taste.

丘の上に登り、より一層美しい（ダンズビルの）谷の景色を眺めた。夕方にマクネア家の若夫婦と丘の上にあるメソジスト教会に行く。ミスター・L・ハースという名の日曜学校の宣教師が説教を行った。約20年前にこの国にやってきた人だ。恐らく典型的な日曜学校の「語り手」で、私の好きなタイプではない。
