The ship left the quarantine station after 4 o’clock in the morning and arrived at Victoria a little after 6. We waited a while and took a ferry boat to Tacoma and arrived half past five. Northern R. R. agent came out to meet us at Victoria and arranged everything for us. Thank God! I stand again on the firm ground after a very trying voyage of twenty three days.
Engaged a room in Hotel Chibbery and had good dinner. Sent a telegram to Mr. Mott and took a walk in the town.
船は午前4時過ぎに検疫所を出発し、6時を少し過ぎた頃にビクトリアに到着した。しばらく待った後、タコマに向かうフェリーボートに乗り、午後5時半に到着。ノーザン・パシフィック鉄道の係員がビクトリアまで会いに来て、万事手配してくれた。神に感謝！ 23日間にわたる非常につらい船旅の末、再び大地に立つ。ホテル・チベリーの部屋を確保して、おいしい夕飯を食べる。ミスター・モットに電報を送り、街中を散歩した。
