Took up the morning paper and there is my talk with the newspaper man all twisted about
He puts wrong［?］ mouth many things I have never said and leaves out many things I did say. I suppose this their way of doing things.
I found an invitation card from the House of Hope Presbyterian Church. So I went to that church and heard Prof. Hoyt （?） preach on the wisdom of Christian Hopefulness. The Church is a quite large one and the audience very respectable. The pastor is away on his summer trip. It is very warm.
朝刊を手に取って見てみたら、新聞記者に話した内容がかなりゆがめられて載っていた。私が一度も言っていないことを言ったかのようにたくさん書かれ、実際に言ったことの多くは書かれていなかった。これが彼らのやり方なのだろう。ハウス・オブ・ホープ長老派教会からの招待状が来ているのを見つけたので、その教会に行って、ホイト（？）教授がキリスト教の希望という英知について説教するのを聞いた。教会は結構大きく、聴衆はとても礼儀正しかった。牧師は夏季休暇で不在だった。非常に暖かい。
