Left St. Paul 5 P.M. by the Bullington［sic］ R. R. and arrived at Chicago 9.30 A.M. yesterday morning. On account of the ［change?］ in the time schedule missed a train and waited four hours. Took 3 P.M. train yesterday and arrived here 8.30. Took a bus from the station and went to 40 E. 22nd st. which was closed. Went over to the Y.M.C.A. office and engaged a room in the Bancroft Hotel on the 21st and corner of the Broadway. The noise is deafening but had a good rest.
［一昨日の］午後五時にバーリントン鉄道に乗ってセント・ポールを出発し、昨日の午前9時半にシカゴに到着。運行予定に変更があったため一本逃し、4時間待った。昨日午後3時の汽車に乗って［本日夜］8：30にここに到着。
駅からバスに乗り、東23丁目40番地まで行ったが、閉まっていた。YMCAのオフィスに行き、21丁目の、ブロードウェイと交わる角にあるバンクロフト・ホテルの部屋を確保した。あたりは耳が聞こえなくなりそうなほど騒々しかったが、よく休めた。
