At five o’clock in the morning we saw the land. The day was fine and it was very warm.
The boat anchored in the harbor a little after noon.
Brother Katsuji came over to see me at the hatoba.
We went to the Wadahiko’s and telegraphed at once to the house in Tokio. After taking Japanese lunch I took the 3.35 train to Tokio and was ［met］ at the Shinagawa station by wife, Fumio, Kenji and Mr. Kumano.
午前5時に陸地が見えた。晴天で、とても暑かった。
正午を少し過ぎた頃、船は港にいかりを下ろした。
弟の勝治が波止場で出迎えてくれた。
ワダヒコ家に行って、直ちに東京の自宅に電報を打った。日本食の昼食をとった後、東京行き3時35分発の列車に乗り、品川駅で妻、文雄、健次、そしてミスター・熊野［が出迎えてくれた］。
