After breakfast took a walk with Honda. He bought a grip and I bought half a dozen collars and handkerchiefs.
Left the Hotel at 9.30 and took a train at 10 o’clock and came the Greenock about 11. We met Mr. Chiba at the station. A launch brought us to the Steamer California which is a little over 1.000 tonage but a nice comfortable boat. Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Brown and several others who attended the Conference are on board the Steamer.
Wrote some letters to be mailed in Ireland tonight. Thus far the sea is very calm and the day fine.
朝食後、本多と共に散歩した。彼は旅行かばんを、私は［交換用の］襟とハンカチを半ダース購入した。
9時半にホテルを出て、10時の列車に乗り、11時頃にグリーノックに到着した。駅ではミスター千葉に会った。私たちは連絡用の小船で蒸気船カリフォルニアまで移動した。総トン数1000トンを少し上回る程度の大きさだが、快適で良い船だ。ドクター・アーサー・ブラウンとそのご夫人など、大会に参加していた人たち数名がこの船に乗っている。
今夜アイルランドから発送される予定の手紙を何通か書いた。これまでのところ海はとても静かで天気も良い。
