Got up at 6.30 and had a warm bath.
After breakfast got ready and waited for Mr. Howard Heinz to call. He came a little after nine with his aunt and took me to the East Liberty Presbyterian Church. I saw and spoke a few words at the Sunday School. After the Church services he took me to his own home in the hill. It is a beautiful place, had nice lunch, then he and his wife took me to the Carnegie
Institute, then called on Mr. Guthrie who is just been appointed ambassador to Japan. Then we went over Mr. H. J. Heinz home.
Saw Meis Heinz, had dinner. He took me to the First Presby. Church where I happened to see old Mr. Davis.
6時半に起床、朝風呂に入った。
朝食後に準備を整えてミスター・ハワード・ハインツの訪問を待つ。彼は9時少し過ぎに彼の叔母と共にやって来て、私をイースト・リバティー長老派教会に案内してくれた。日曜学校に出て短いスピーチをした。教会での礼拝が終わると、丘の上の彼の自宅へ行く。すばらしいところだ。美味しい昼食をいただいた。その後彼と夫人と共にカーネギー研究所へ行き、さらに先ごろ駐日大使に任命されたミスター・ガスリーを訪ねる。その後Ｈ・Ｊ・ハインツ氏宅へ。
メイズ・ハインツ会って晩餐となった。彼に連れられて第一長老教会に行ったところ、懐かしいことにミスター・デイヴィスに遭遇した。
