Left the Pitt Hill Hotel 6 A.M. and took the 6.45 train to
New York. After changing cars at Philadelphia and Trenton arrived at Princeton 5.40. Came to the Princeton Inn. And met Miss Tsuda and other women delegates. Pretty soon Dr. Mott came into my room and told me that I might stay where I was though the other men delegates are staying at Hodge Hall. After dinner［,］or rather supper［,］we all held the first session of the Committee. Dr. Mott gave a most inspiring report. He is a wonderful man, a man of wonderful insight and energy. He puts me to utter shame.
ピットヒル・ホテルを朝6時に出て6時45分のニューヨーク行き列車に乗る。フィラデルフィアとトレントンで乗り換え、5時40分にプリンストンに到着。プリンストン・インに来た。そこでミス・ツダなど女性の代表団に会った。やがてドクター・モットが私の部屋入ってきて、他の代表団たちはホッジ・ホールに滞在しているが、私はここにいていいと言った。晩餐というより軽い夕食後に全員が委員会の最初のミーティングに出た。ドクター・モットの報告は非常に感動的だった。実にすばらしい人物、見事な洞察と活力の持ち主だ。比べて我が身が恥ずかしく思うほどである。
