We were to change cars at Halls but after being to place to get our breakfast we went to Willamsport and then came back to Halls. And after changing twice finally came up to Eagles Mere. I was at once taken to one of the cottages; “Alpine" It
is a rude structure but awesome to the purpose. There are a large number of such cottages. The place has not begun to compare in natural beauty with Lake Mohonk. Everything is very［good］yet very rude here. The lake is larger but no rocks about it. There are some hotels on the other side of it. Wilder gave an address in the morning. Sunset meeting by the lake and a group meeting in the evening.
ホールズ駅で乗り換える予定だったが、朝食を摂るために下車してウィリアムスポートに行き、ホールズまで戻った。二度乗り換え、ようやくイーグルス・ミアに到着。私はすぐに「アルプス」コテージのある場所に案内された。素朴な造りであるが立派に用を果たしている。そんなコテージがたくさんある。ここは自然の美においてレイク・モホンクには及ばないようだ。すべてがとてもよいのだが、まだまだ粗雑である。湖は大きいが岩はない。向こう岸にいくつかホテルがある。朝はワイルダーがスピーチした。日没のミーティングが湖のそばで、晩にグループ・ミーティングが開かれた。
