Arrived rather tired at New York about 10 o'clock. Found a note from Mr. Severance saying he can see me between 11 and 12 o'clock this morning. Therefore I changed my dress and went to his office about 11.30. After asking a few questions he said when I asked if he would not be willing to give $10,000 for a new lot. He said he could not give so much but will give $7,500 for this purpose if we get it within two years. Thanked him for it. Went to Pres. Board and Dr. Speer took me and Dr. Brown to Princeton Club to lunch. Went to Board again and had some checks cashed And with Ohori went to the Y. S. Bank to get Travellers Cheque. Called on the council, bought us steamer tickets, [and]R. way tickets to Washington. In the evening spoke with Japanese young men.
