Ambassador took me and Messrs Soeda & Kamiya to the White House at 10.25 and introduced us to President Wilson, who received very cordially. Mr. S. spoke for the affiliated chamber of Commerce and I spoke for the Church Federation in Japan. I expressed our appreciation of what he is doing towards just & fair solution of the Cal. Land question and assumed him of our confidence in his administration. He spoke about selecting the ambassador to Japan with special care.

Ambassador, Mr. Soeda & myself were invited to luncheon to Mr. Bryan's. Both he and Mrs. Bryan were much cordial. Mr. B. spoke of his experience in Japan, his weakness for white    

radish. Took 4 P.M. train and got in New York 9 o'clock.

大使に伴われ、私とミスター・ソエダ、カミヤは10時25分にホワイトハウスを訪問。ウィルソン大統領に紹介され、暖かい歓迎を受けた。ミスター・Sが商工会議所の支部について、私は日本の教会連盟について話した。私は彼がカリフォルニアの土地[法]問題に対して正しく公平な解決をめざしてくれていることに感謝し、彼の政権に信頼を置いていることを表明した。彼は日本駐在大使を注意深く選んでいることを語った。

大使とミスター・ソエダと私はミスター・ブライアン宅での昼食会に招待される。ブライアン夫妻はとても暖かく迎えてくれた。ミスター・Bは日本での経験を語り、大根が苦手だと言った。午後4時の列車に乗り、9時にニューヨークに着いた。
