The last day of the convention. In the morning went to the Tonhalle. Kozaki spoke a few words of thanks for accepting our invitation. In the afternoon went to the Executive Committee meeting and also spoke at the smaller hall on the Sunday School and the Religious Education in Japan.
In the evening the Hall was crowded and I was called upon to
speak about our invitation without any further notice. I was told to keep within ten minutes. Therefore I began with referring to Kozaki's speech in the morning and proceeded to give the reason why the conventions should be held in Tokyo, and closed with renewing our invitation.
But Mr. Heinz was quite disappointed because I did not speak more fully about the commission.
大会最終日である。午前はトーンハレに出る。日本での開催を承認してくれたことに小崎が簡潔に感謝の言葉を述べた。午後には執行委員会のミーティング、また小ホールの方で日本における日曜学校と宗教教育についてスピーチした。
晩には大ホールは混みあっており、私は日本への招致について話すよう言われたが、その後は特に指示もない。10分以内に収めるように言われる。そこで私は朝の小崎のスピーチに触れ、大会を東京で開くべき理由について述べ、招待の言葉をくり返して締めくくった。
しかしミスター・ハインツはかなり失望していた、私が委員会について詳しく触れなかったためだ。
