Kozaki and I left Zurich 7.25 A.M. for Milan.
Saw snowcapped Alps, beautiful lake and water falls. St. Gothard was magnificent. Arrived at Milan at 12.30, went to Hotel Victoria. After lunch went to the Cathedral. It is more imposing inside. After that we went to the castle and then to S. Maria delle Grazie but were too late to see the Last Supper. Milan is evidently a prosperous city, full of the people are active［sic］.
小崎と共に朝7時25分にチューリッヒを発ってミラノに向かう。
雪をいただいたアルプス山脈や美しい湖、滝が見えた。ザンクト・ゴットハルト［峠］は絶景だった。ミラノに12時30分に到着、ホテル・ヴィクトリアへ行く。昼食後に大聖堂へ行った。内部はさらに壮麗である。その後、城、さらにサンタ・マリア・デッレ・グラツィエ教会に足を延ばしたが、時間が遅く、［ダ・ヴィンチの］最後の晩餐は見られなかった。ミラノは見るからに豊かな都市である、活気ある人々で満ちている。
