Left Venice by 10.15 and arrived at Florence 5.30.
We passed through many tunnels which reminded me of the Sasako & Suwatoge tunnels. It was very hot and disagreeable. On arriving at the hotel I took a hot bath which refreshed me very much.
After dinner we went out & walked round the Dome which is huge pile of marble and seemed by moon light very imposing. The city is old, the streets are narrow, only a few automobiles, many cabs or carriages. The people do not seem to be very busy cutter.
ヴェネツィアを10時15分に発ち、フィレンツェに5時30分着。
途中トンネルをいくつも通り、笹子や諏訪峠のトンネルを思い出した。非常に暑くて不快であった。ホテルに着いて熱い風呂に入り、かなりさっぱりした。
夕食後外に出て大聖堂をぐるりとめぐってみた、巨大な大理石の建造物である。そして月明かりに照らされ、とても立派である。古い街で道路は狭く、自動車は少ししかいない。さまざまな馬車が行き交っている。人はあまりせかせかしていない。
