Dr. James Good called at the hotel and asked me if I would not like to go with him to Einsiedeln where there is a famous Abby and where Zwingli first preached the gospel. I met him at the Zwingli's musee where he explained many things to us. The autograph letters of Zwingli, Bullenger, Calvin, Lady Jane Gray et ce. We took train at 11 A.M. and got to Einsiedeln about 1 P.M. We saw the “black" Virgin Mary and a number of pilgrims worshipping her. Dr. Miller of the Heidelberg Uni. of Ohio and his family were with us. Dr. Good & I returned together. He gave me a copy of his “History of the Swiss Reformed Church since the Reformation" He is very good to me.
ドクター・ジェームズ・グッドがホテルに来て、一緒にアインジーデルンに行かないかと言う。有名な修道院があり、ツヴィングリが初めて福音を説いた土地だという。彼とはツヴィングリ博物館で会って、いろいろな説明をしてもらったのである。ツヴィングリを始め、ブリンガー、カルヴァン、レディー・ジェーン・グレイなどの自筆書簡が展示されているとのこと。11時の列車に乗ってアインジーデルンに午後1時くらいに到着。「黒い」聖母マリア〔絵画〕と、それを拝む巡礼の人々を見た。オハイオ州ティフィンのハイデルベルグ大学のドクター・ミラーとその家族も同行した。ドクター・グッドと共に帰った。彼に「宗教改革以後のスイス改革派教会の歴史」を1冊いただいた。とても親切にしてもらった。
