In Tokyo, a large-scale city planning for war damage reconstruction was decided upon immediately after the war, and plans were made to connect Minato City with other cities through large-sale road and land readjustment projects. In particular, Roppongi drew attention by carrying out its own land readjustment by residents. Plans for war damage reconstruction were largely curtailed, and work was made difficult with the rise of resistance movements against land readjustment even in Roppongi, yet the town blocks created at this time survived, and such elements form the basis of the present-day metropolitan space.
