The hosting of the Tokyo Olympics had a great effect on Minato City too. In Minato City, the Metropolitan Expressway and Aoyama-dori Avenue (national route 246; radial road 4), linking the National Stadium at the heart of the city with the second stadium of Metropolitan Komazawa Park, were built as essential road routes for the Olympics. These were also in response to the transformations in urban structure happening due to high economic growth, and the appearance of the town along the roads began to change on a wide scale. During the process, various problems were exposed concerning complicated land rights, and there was a lot of hardship and endurance on the part of local residents.
