| 昨年発生した東日本大震災のような大きな地震やゲリラ豪雨などの自然災害は、大変恐ろしいものです。平成20年度の東京都の地域危険度測定調査によれば、瑞穂町の地震による建物倒壊危険度、火災危険度は、ともに危険性がもっとも低いランク1の評価がつけられています。しかし、災害は想定を超えることも多く、災害発生時に備えた地域の協力体制など防災力の向上をはかる必要があり、防災マニュアル作りや防災訓練などを実施しています。 | Large earthquakes such as the one that struck eastern Japan in 2011 and other natural disasters such as sudden torrential downpours are awful events. A fiscal 2008 survey to assess the levels of danger in areas of Tokyo awarded Mizuho a rank of 1, the lowest level of danger from either collapsed buildings or fires due to an earthquake. However, natural disasters often exceed expectations, and we need to get ready for them by maintaining systems for local community cooperation and improving our disaster preparedness capabilities. Our efforts toward that end include the publication of a disaster preparedness manual and disaster preparedness drills. |

| 犯罪は、日常生活の中でだれもが被害にあう可能性があり、一人ひとりの防犯意識の向上が重要です。町では、青色回転灯装備車による巡回パトロールや防犯情報のメール配信などを行い、地域住民と連携した防犯対策を推進しています。 | Regarding crime, the possibility of meeting with harm is part of everyone's everyday life, and boosting everyone's awareness of crime prevention measures is vital. The municipal government conducts patrols in vehicles fitted with blue flashers and distributes crime prevention information by e-mail, working with local residents to promote crime prevention. |
| また、交通事故は被害者だけでなく加害者自身やその家族の生活に甚大な影響を与え、社会的、経済的損失をもたらします。国道16号や新青梅街道などの幹線道路が走る瑞穂町では、交通モラルの低下による事故の危険性も高く、交通環境の整備と安全対策を行っています。 | Traffic accidents are another concern. They affect the injured parties, the people who cause the accidents, and their families as well, generating social and economic losses. Deteriorating road etiquette on major streets that run through Mizuho―such as National Route 16 and Shin Ome-Kaido avenue―has raised the risk of accidents, so we are making improvements to road facilities and pursuing better safety measures. |
