| 東京都が施行していた残堀川整備事業が、昭和38年から45年の歳月をかけ完成しました。武蔵村山市と共同で開催された残堀川整備完成記念事業には、4,000人もの参加があり、完成を祝いました。 | Undertaken by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Zanbori River Development Project was completed over a 45-year span from 1963. To mark the completion of the Zanbori River Development Project, 4,000 people took part in the celebrations, which also involved the people of Musashimurayama City. |
| 記念イベントとして残堀川ウォーキングが開催され、その後、残堀川ふれあいウォーキングが毎年行われています。 | To commemorate this event, the Zanbori River Walk was staged, and this has been held every year since.

| 洪水の防止が主な目的ですが、それに加えカワセミ営巣ブロックの設置や旧河川の保存整備、最上流の狭山池付近は親水公園風にするなど、自然環境の配慮と川に親しめる工夫が随所に施されています。 | As well as fulfilling its main task of flood prevention, the work everywhere is in sensitive harmony with its natural environment and it incorporates specially-created opportunities to enjoy close access to the river, including the installation of kingfishers' nesting blocks, the preserving and maintaining of the old river, and creating a water-themed park at the farthest upstream area near Sayama Pond.
