| 都市化が進むにつれ、町の姿は変ぼうし、古来から伝わる土地の名も抹消され、ふるさとはだんだん遠くに過ぎ去ろうとしています。 | With increasing urbanization, the town's features are transformed, and with that some of the town's names of land that had been handed down from ancient times are erased, so that the hometown's old character gradually fades away into the mists of time. |
| 文化財保護審議会は、寛文八年(一六六八)頃からの検地帳に記載の地名について、三百十数年前の先人が、粒々辛苦開墾した姿を想像しながら、その位置、開墾した地名の語源等について、約二か年にわたり、調査し、検討を加えた結果、「瑞穂の地名」の冊子を出版することになりました。 | Over some two years, the Council for the Protection of Cultural Properties investigated and analysed the place names filed in the land ledger 'Kenchi-cho' from around the 8th year of Kanbun period (Kanbun 8, or 1668 A.D.). Looking at the names' locations, etymology, etc., an effort was made to picture the time more than three hundred years ago when our predecessors had assiduously cultivated the land associated with those names. The result of that effort was the Council's publication of the booklet, "The Place Names of Mizuho". |
