地元の人はボウゲートと発音している。前述の石畑の東側の集落の名称。字義からすると、僧坊のある山の間の土地ということになるが、この地区には、それを裏づける寺や坊が存在しない。町史では神明社の大槻のあたりに坊があったのではな いかと推量しているが何等の証拠もなく、それをうかがわせる伝承もない。 | The locals pronounced it as Bo-ghē-to. It is the name of the community on the eastern side of the above-mentioned Ishihata. Judging by the literal meaning of the Chinese characters, it is the land between the mountains ('yato') featuring a temple ('Bo'), but there is no evidence of a temple or priest's quarters to support this assumption. According to the town history, it was suggested that it might have been near the Otsuki of Shinme Shrine, but there is no evidence or any oral tradition to support that. |
